Hey, I’m Zach.
A product designer with ten years of experience designing complex systems, ecommerce platforms, and operational tools. I’ve spent most of that time at the intersection of messy problems and real constraints — which is honestly where I do my best work.
“Zach is a true advocate for the customer. He is willing to push back against business and stakeholder assumptions and do the work to surface real customer issues, validate hypothesis through continued research and push for innovative solutions that delight our customers and drive repeat and continued business.”

My Design Philosophy
Design is messier than most portfolios make it look — and that’s the part I find most interesting. The compromise, the constraints, the good ideas that don’t survive a meeting. That’s not the exception, that’s the job. And after ten years in it, I’ve learned to do my best work there.
What nobody really prepares you for is that teams are political and design is political. You might be making the design decisions, but those decisions are being shaped by things outside your control — business priorities, engineering constraints, organizational dynamics, stakeholders with competing agendas. The sooner you accept that, the more effective you’ll be.
The designers I’ve seen struggle are the ones who show up precious about their work. The ones who do well are malleable enough to learn from everyone around them while being confident enough to hold their ground on the decisions that are actually theirs to make. That balance is harder than any design problem I’ve encountered.
Craft matters — it’s the part customers actually touch. But everything that gets you there matters just as much. The facilitation, the compromise, the iteration, the instincts you build from projects that didn’t go the way you planned. That’s where the real design work happens.
That’s where I’ve cut my teeth. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Zach’s UX work has not only created better user experiences but has also generated positive financial outcomes.”
